What is so special about a logo?
Logos cause immediate brand recognition for ALL of us. This of the Nike swoosh, the McDonald’s arches (anyone have any McDowell’s jokes?) and the Apple apple. We can all picture them in our mind. It is easy peasy. When we think of the logo, we think of the company. We also think about what they stand for, what they do and how we feel about it. That isn’t from the logo alone but it plays a large role. Logos are made for brand recognition.
Why do I need a logo?
Logos are great for people who are like me, I can’t remember a name but a face? That always sticks. I can think up a whole bunch of logos and they help me remember the company. With that in mind, I went from not having a logo to having one because I want a clear visual reminder of Yaa – Digital Awesomeness Maker! It has an excellent ring to it, even though I only call myself that in my head… The important bit for me is to be able to have many ways to communicate to my wider audience.
What goes into a logo?
Colours! You know what a logo needs? It needs to have something that represents your brand. Often, that is a colour, it can be a shape too. So long as a logo meshes with your overall style guide – you are in business. It can even serve as the jumping point for your style guide! Think about it and consider making a logo a nice starting point for your business.
